Vetiveah has a diverse background in food-related work, ranging from farming to food business incubation. She has experience managing and coordinating various aspects of food-based initiatives, such as operations, procurement, inventory management, distribution, and customer service.

Her Story

Vetiveah is a Food Business Incubator Coordinator at CitySeed, Inc. in New Haven, Connecticut. She provides various services to build and grow food businesses, such as managing a shared-use commercial kitchen space, coordinating vendors and clients, and facilitating educational workshops.

 

She is also a ServSafe Certified Professional, demonstrating her knowledge and commitment to safe food handling practices. Vetiveah began her career in the food industry at Eden Place Nature Center and Farm in Chicago, Illinois. There, she learned agricultural practices such as soil preparation, irrigation, and pest management, cultivated and harvested crops, and facilitated educational programs on sustainable agriculture and food justice. She has also monitored and reported on the impact of urban farming projects on community health, economic development, and environmental sustainability.

As a Farmers Market Associate at Forty Acres Fresh Market in Chicago, Illinois, Vetiveah expanded the Farmers' Market Manager's efforts in all aspects of market operations, collaborated with local farmers, and developed and implemented marketing strategies to increase customer participation and grow the market's revenue.

​

As a Food Hub Coordinator at The Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she coordinated the food hub's daily operations, implemented data tracking and reporting systems, and expanded long-term strategic plans. She also worked with new food entrepreneurs to obtain licenses and permits, facilitated their onboarding into a shared-use commercial kitchen rental program, and organized the redistribution of donated food to community food pantries and soup kitchens.

Lastly, Vetiveah worked as a Community Garden Coordinator at the Green Village Initiative in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she designed and implemented community garden projects, facilitated educational programs, and engaged with community members to promote healthy and sustainable food practices.

Overall, Vetiveah has demonstrated a wide range of skills and expertise in the food industry. Her skills include business support, customer service, communication, organization, networking, detail-oriented work, flexibility, adaptability, and empathy.
